What an exciting week it has been – I’ve been offered my own weekly radio show on www.mindbodyspiritradio.net!  Gaius is an experienced radio presenter who set up the internet radio station and it is broadcast worldwide.

I’ve been thinking about a name for it and it came whilst I was talking with Karen Shaw on the phone last night … MASTERY PATH CONNECTIONS.  Moriah Ama Hope has checked out the numerology of the new name and given the thumbs up (Moriah spoke for us last week at Mastery Path and she is my guest on 4 October).

I chose Monday nights as it’s my clearest night and Gaius suggested 9-10 pm as the show is syndicated across 6 channels in the USA at this time and they have a high number of listeners across the world.  We broadcast the show live, then Gaius edits the recording and it’s repeated over the next 7 days at different times so that those not catching the first show can listen in another time and this increases the number of listeners.

Dawn Gibbins & Debra Brown

The show is being launched on Monday 27 September 9 pm UK time and Dawn Gibbins MBE & Secret Millionnaire will be my first guest.  Dawn is one of my Hug Ambassadors and she’s one of my favourite role models – such an inspiration and her enthusiasm is infectious.

Dawn will be talking about the Ancient Wisdom of Feng Shui and how it has transformed her life and now is at the root of of her life goals.

Listen in on Monday here:  www.mindbodyspiritradio.net

I was delighted to receive a royal visit on Saturday from HRH Prince Frederick Von Saxe-Lauenberg.   We spent a lovely afternoon in Thompson Park and Queens Park in Burnley chatting about the Bear Hugs for Haiti Project which Prince Frederick has asked me to launch in the UK.

We’d love for schools throughout the UK to support this appeal.  The short video explains what the project is about and you can see some of the press coverage we have had below.

Who do you know who can help us?

We need:

Schools and youth organisations to participate.

Volunteers to speak in schools.

Publicity to raise awareness of the project.

If you can help, please contact me to let me know how.

Email debra@globalhugs.com to request an information pack.

I just love meeting people … you never know what’s going to happen.

I’m a member of Ready2Network and introduced Paul Adams to the network last year.   Paul is celebrating his 10th year in business as a professional photographer and is doing a project to photograph 10 people in different locations.  He chose to photograph me on the swings in Thompson Park.

Then I met Andrew Greenwood from The Dove Companyat a Federation of Small Business meeting and he told me he wanted some shots of his white doves for his new website that is currently being built.  I connected Paul with Andrew and this short video (filmed by Paul Kalus from Mastery Path) shows what happened!

Photos will be released later this year so watch this space!

The mother and baby who briefly appear in the video are my daughter Emily and granddaughter Evie Grace.

Bee Connected

I met Elizabeth Hartstar in Glastonbury 4 weeks ago and she invited me to lead a group hug at the Bee Here Now Ceremony in honour of the Honey Bees taking place around the stone circles in Avebury on 12 June at 12:12.  Originally I didn’t think I was able to attend but that weekend opened up and I experienced so many synchronicities with bees in the last 4 weeks that I have been extremely amused.  Even my name Debra means ‘Bee’ in Hebrew!

Have a look at this short video in which I describe an extraordinary experience I had with a bee whilst I was visiting my friend Ahqulieah in Surrey:

A Perfect Day

Tuesday 11 May must go down as one of my perfect days.  We had a Humanity Unites Brilliance Igniter Event from 2-5 pm at The Monastery in Manchester with inspirational guest speakers Charlie Gay and Alison Levesley, followed by a HUB business presentation.  It was lovely to reconnect with people I hadn’t seen for a while.  Then we had a lovely buffet prior to the Deva Premal concert which started at 7.30 pm.  The concert was blissful and we had a beautiful evening in the most stunning venue.  I never want to to leave The Monastery when I visit.

Paul and I were blessed to have front row seats and I got some beautiful photos.  You can view photos on my facebook photo album

I also had individual hug photos with everyone and these are in the ‘Inspirational People I have Hugged’ album.

If you’ve never heard Deva Premal sing, check her out – one of my favourites is the Gayatri Mantra . Why not take 8 minutes out of your day to listen with your eyes closed, breathe deeply and feel the music in your heart.  A great stress stress buster for everyone!

Burnley Huggers

Volunteer Huggers 1 May 2010

We had a fantastic hug event in Burnley on Saturday celebrating International Hugs Week.   The weather was glorious and shoppers were out in force, claiming their free hugs.

I was joined by volunteer huggers: Paul and Barbara Kalus,Karen Shaw and Jim Dawson – they all said how much they’d enjoyed offering hugs throughout the day.

The youngest hugger was a 6 month old baby and the oldest hugger was 100 year old Sybil Brookes.

Hug Group

Huggers at Burnley Free Hug Event

We were joined by a group of teenagers towards the end of the event who all loved the hugs  and wanted to take part.  They were all very enthusiastic and it was a great energy to experience.

It’s a good job I had taken some extra Free Hugs signs!

Feel the love!

((( x ))) is the symbol for a  virtual hug.

This is a week when we can show unconditional love to everyone through the simple gesture of offering hugs.  So many people never get hugged and we all need physical touch to have that sense of belonging.

Help the excluded to feel included.  Help the lonely to feel connected.  Help those hurting inside to have comfort. Help those who have lost partners to remember the love that is inside each and every one of us.  For love is everything.

We now have 15 people from the UK who have joined our Mastery Micro Finance Circle … what a great start and a big thank you to those who have stepped up to make a difference.  We have so much compared with the world’s population and it’s great to help those in most need.   The loan money will be transferred to the bank in Nairobi as soon as all funds have been received then the 15 women in Nairobi can start their businesses.

Be the change you wish to see in the world

One of my favourite quotes is by Gandhi.

Whatever change you want to see in the world, be that change … it starts with you.

Someone asked me a great question today …

“Why are the loans for women?  Why not men?”

And here’s the answer:  The Girl Effect

Check out this short video which explains The Girl Effect .

After hearing Charlie Gay from Humanity Unites Brilliance talk about the impact of micro-finance loans, we have decided to start our own Mastery Micro Finance Circle.

1 billion people live on less than $1 a day.  2 billion live on less than $2 a day.  200 million of those are receiving microloans – 98% of which are repaid.

Ingrid Munroe works on a project giving 120,000 microloans in Nairobi.  She asked why 2% were not repaid and discovered that the women had healthcare issues and needed to pay for hospital care.  She visited the hospitals and found out that there was a lack of resources in terms of staff and medical supplies.  Ingrid asked herself what would happen if she added 35 cents healthcare insurance to each loan to cover the whole family.   This was implemented which enabled the hospitals to be adequately resourced and enabled all microloan recipients and their families to access healthcare.

As a result of Ingrid asking a better question … as well as families receiving health care, 100% of loans are now repaid.

We decided to launch our own Mastery Micro Finance Circle to help 15 women from the slums of Nairobi get out of poverty and be able to feed, clothe and educate their children.

It only needs 15 of us to put £100 each into the loan fund and to start the process off.  11 people have already said yes … we just need 4 more - can you help?

Each person in the UK circle will be connected to a loan recipient in the Nairobi circle so that we can provide encouragement, mentoring and support.  You will be able to see the impact your loan is having.  In addition, the two circles will be connected as a whole group.

What next?  Let me know that you want to participate and send cheque for £100 made payable to Humanity Unites Brilliance (Europe) Ltd to me at 71 Ormerod Road, Burnley, Lancashire, BB11 2RU.
